Wednesday, April 16 – Dustin Lynch

Alright, Tony Price, here to give you the lowdown on a Wednesday night at Red Rocks with Dustin Lynch! Now, after a string of electronic shows, it was time for a bit of a country twang to grace those legendary rocks. Your old pal Tony enjoys a bit of everything, so I was ready to see what Mr. Lynch brought to the table.

The weather was playing nice for a mid-April evening in Colorado. A little cool as the sun dipped behind the foothills, but nothing a good flannel shirt couldn't handle. The stars were starting to pop out, and there was a real friendly, laid-back vibe in the air.

Dustin Lynch brought a whole different kind of energy to Red Rocks. It was less about the pounding bass or the hypnotic rhythms and more about good ol' country storytelling with a modern, upbeat twist. He had a really engaging stage presence, lots of smiles and interactions with the crowd, making it feel like a big, fun get-together.

His music is definitely on the contemporary side of country, with catchy melodies, smooth vocals, and a lot of songs that make you want to tap your foot and maybe even do a little two-step. He played a lot of his hits, and the crowd was singing along to pretty much every word. There was a real sense of connection between him and his fans.

The band was tight, with that classic country sound mixed with a bit of a modern edge. Lots of guitars, a solid rhythm section, and those harmonies that just sound perfect under the open sky.

The crowd was definitely in their element. Lots of cowboy hats, boots, and big smiles. There was a real sense of community, everyone just enjoying the music and the beautiful setting. It felt like a classic Red Rocks experience, just with a country soundtrack.

Now, if I have to put on my "Tony's Honest Opinion" hat… well, for someone who's maybe more into the heavier or more experimental genres, it might have felt a little straightforward. It wasn't pushing a lot of musical boundaries, but it was solid, well-performed country music that clearly resonated with a lot of people.

The visuals were pretty standard for a country show – big screens showing the performance and some graphics that fit the themes of the songs. Nothing too over-the-top, but it did the job.

Overall, Dustin Lynch at Red Rocks was a fun and enjoyable Wednesday night. He delivered a solid set of contemporary country hits that got the crowd singing and swaying. It was a reminder of the broad appeal of this iconic venue and the different kinds of music that can create a great atmosphere there. Tony Price, signing off – might just have to dust off my own cowboy hat!
