Sunday, April 20 – Easter Sunrise Service (6am)

Alright, Tony Price here, reporting live and early (very early!) from Red Rocks for a truly unique experience: the Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 20th. Now, this was a different kind of gathering altogether, a far cry from the usual concerts and bass drops we've been experiencing.

The weather, even at that early hour, was surprisingly mild for a mid-April morning in Colorado. The air was crisp and clean, and as the first hints of dawn started to paint the sky, there was a real sense of peace and anticipation.

The atmosphere was unlike anything I've ever experienced at Red Rocks. Instead of the usual buzz of excitement for a musical performance, there was a quiet reverence. People of all ages and backgrounds were gathered, bundled up in blankets and sipping warm drinks, all facing east, waiting for the sunrise.

There wasn't a single performer on a stage in the traditional sense. Instead, the focus was entirely on the natural beauty of the amphitheatre and the unfolding spectacle of the sunrise. There were readings, prayers, and traditional Easter hymns sung by a choir, their voices echoing beautifully through the stillness of the morning.

The music was obviously very different from what we've been hearing at Red Rocks lately. These were classic hymns, full of hope and tradition, and they sounded particularly moving in that setting, surrounded by the grandeur of nature.

As the first rays of sun peeked over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the red rocks, there was a collective gasp of awe from the crowd. It was a truly breathtaking moment, a reminder of the beauty and power of nature and the symbolism of new beginnings that Easter represents.

The crowd was respectful and engaged, participating in the service and sharing in the quiet joy of the morning. It was a really unifying experience, a sense of community coming together to mark this special occasion in a truly unique and awe-inspiring setting.

Now, if I had to put on my "Tony's Observational Hat," there wasn't really a "performance" to critique in the traditional sense. This was about something much bigger than a single artist or a musical setlist. It was about faith, community, and the beauty of nature coming together in a powerful way.

Overall, the Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks was a profound and moving experience. It was a reminder of the versatility of this incredible venue and its ability to host events that touch the soul in different ways. It wasn't about the bass drops or the light shows; it was about something much more fundamental and deeply felt. Tony Price, signing off – feeling a little more spiritually uplifted this morning! And maybe needing a little more coffee!
