Thursday, April 10 – Remi Wolf, Alice Phoebe Lou

Alright, Tony Price back at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a Thursday night double feature with Remi Wolf and Alice Phoebe Lou! This was an interesting pairing, and your old pal Tony was ready to soak it all in.

The weather was pretty mild for an April night in Colorado – a little breezy, but nothing a light jacket couldn't handle. The stars were out, the rocks were majestic as ever, and there was a real buzz of anticipation in the air for these two distinct artists.

First up was Alice Phoebe Lou. Now, her vibe was definitely more on the mellow and soulful side. Her voice is just incredible – really raw and powerful, and she had this captivating stage presence. It was the kind of performance that makes you stop and really listen to the lyrics, feel the emotion in her delivery. The band was tight, and the arrangements were beautiful, creating this really intimate and almost hypnotic atmosphere in that vast space.

The crowd for Alice Phoebe Lou seemed really engaged, swaying along and soaking in the more introspective mood. It was a nice way to start the evening, a bit of a calming before the potential storm of energy that might follow.

Now, when Remi Wolf came on, the energy definitely shifted! This young woman is like a human firecracker. Her music is this vibrant, quirky mix of pop, funk, and a whole lot of playful energy. She was bouncing all over the stage, her band was super tight and funky, and the whole place just seemed to erupt with this infectious joy.

Her songs are catchy and clever, with these unexpected twists and turns that keep you on your toes. And her stage presence? Just magnetic. She's got this incredible connection with the audience, making you feel like you're all in on some fun, slightly chaotic party.

The crowd for Remi Wolf was definitely ready to move. Lots of dancing, singing along, and just a palpable sense of excitement. The lights were bright and colorful, matching her vibrant energy. It was the kind of performance that just makes you feel good and want to dance like nobody's watching (even though thousands of people were watching!).

Now, if I had to put on my Tony "balancing perspectives" hat, the stark contrast between the two artists might not have been everyone's cup of tea. If you were really there for one specific vibe, the other might have felt a little out of place. But for me, I appreciated the variety. It showed the range of music that can connect with an audience at a place like Red Rocks.

Overall, it was a really interesting and enjoyable night. Alice Phoebe Lou brought the soulful, introspective vibes and showcased some serious vocal talent. And then Remi Wolf came out and just turned the whole place into a joyful dance party. It was a reminder that music comes in all shapes and sizes, and Red Rocks is the perfect place to experience that diversity. Tony Price, signing off – feeling a little more eclectic tonight!
